Trim-co's Home Improvement Beginnings
Trim-co Exteriors was created in 1982 by Doyle Sims, a man from a long line of construction industry professionals. Doyle left the commercial construction industry to open his own home improvement company, Sims Trim Co. In 1985, Doyle was first introduced to Vinyl Siding. Doyle says, "We were doing the trim work on an apartment complex in Gainesville, and they were putting vinyl siding on them. I saw the value of the low maintenance product with the guarantee and warranty that this vinyl carried." He immediately began to use the vinyl siding on a duplex that he was building and also on his own home to cover cedar siding that was badly in need of repair.
From this point on, vinyl siding became a dominant part of the business. Sims hired crews to do installation on spec homes and established homes. Scott Sims, Doyle's son, came to work for the company as an installer in 1985. Also in 1985, Doyle incorporated the business as Trim-co. In the early 90's, Wayne Sims, Doyle's brother, came on board as an installer as well.
Trim-co Expands to Offer Complete Exterior Home Improvement Services
In December of 1999, Doyle and Scott purchased the property on Hwy. 211. In October of 2000, Trim-co hosted an open house to show off their new facility. Their prime location gives contractors and homeowners the opportunity to come in and see the vinyl siding and other products on display.
Today, Doyle Sims is the main outside salesman and Scott Sims handles operations. Because of their hands-on ability to know a quality installation job and their hometown approach to salesmanship, the Sims have seen tremendous growth at Trim-co Exteriors, Inc. and have assembled a superior staff to work with them.
